Marcos to Navy: Boost capabilities, PH will never be intimidated

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the Philippine Navy to enhance its operational capabilities to address increasing maritime security threats and regional geopolitical tensions. During the Navy’s 128th anniversary, the President emphasized that the nation remains committed to defending its sovereignty and will not be deterred by external pressures. He highlighted the importance of a modernized naval force in protecting national interests within the West Philippine Sea, which he described as a focal point for global competition. To support this goal, Marcos instructed the Department of National Defense to expand collaborative efforts and military partnerships with international allies. The event also featured the commissioning of the BRP Rajah Lakandula, a new offshore patrol vessel designed to bolster the fleet's readiness. Additionally, the President praised the naval forces for their swift disaster response efforts following a recent earthquake in Sarangani.

The directive underscores the Philippines' strategic shift toward strengthening its maritime defense and international security alliances in response to escalating territorial disputes in the Indo-Pacific.
