In this paper, a method for reading RFID sensor tags using an extended antenna within electromagnetically shielded environments is presented. This study focuses on three key applications: underground soil temperature measurement, temperature and moisture monitoring to prevent water leakage in water-cooled server computers, and body temperature monitoring. The proposed extended antenna system consists of a coaxial cable, a small coupling loop that connects an RFID sensor tag installed in a shielded area to the coaxial cable, and an external antenna. The experimental results demonstrate that the extended antenna system enables RFID-based sensing in electromagnetically shielded areas. The findings of this study contribute to the advancement of RFID sensor technologies that support a wide range of applications, including precision agriculture, data center management, and health care.
