Police Headquarters has initiated a policy to transfer police personnel from the rank of constable to additional superintendent who are currently serving in metropolitan units within their home districts. This decision aims to prevent local social, political, and financial connections from compromising professional integrity and duty performance. While the policy was previously applied to district-level police, it is now being strictly enforced across all eight metropolitan units to curb corruption and the formation of illicit local networks. Authorities have already begun compiling lists of affected officers, with over one hundred transfers expected to be finalized within the next few days. However, officials noted that officers scheduled to retire within the next seven to eight months will be exempted from these transfers on humanitarian grounds. This move follows reports of several officers abusing their positions to facilitate criminal activities, influence local politics, and engage in extortion.

The initiative seeks to eliminate conflicts of interest and reduce the influence of local criminal syndicates and political networks on law enforcement operations.
