Cyprus's Defence Ministry has launched a recruitment drive for the National Guard's contract soldier program, featuring enhanced salaries and career advancement prospects. New recruits will start on an improved pay scale, with monthly earnings potentially exceeding €1,500 plus a bonus, aiming to make military service a more appealing professional path. The initiative targets young Cypriots, including those from the diaspora, and opens applications to men aged 18 and women aged 19 up to 35. The program also emphasizes career progression, offering clear pathways for promotion to non-commissioned officer roles and extending the maximum service age to 57.
These changes aim to bolster the National Guard's ranks and professionalize military service by making it a more attractive and sustainable career option for Cypriot citizens.
