The illegal control tower at Tymbou Airport in the occupied territories repeatedly jammed communications between the Greek plane and Cypriot air traffic control, demanding the aircraft alter course or recognize the "authority" of the self-declared state. Simultaneously, two Turkish F-16 fighter jets shadowed the Greek delegation's flight.
