Tamil Nadu Minister for Energy Resources and Law R. Nirmalkumar alleged that some individuals were instigating residents in various parts of Chennai to stage protests against power cuts, even though supply had been restored in those areas, following outages in several parts of the city on Monday night (June 8, 2026) and Tuesday morning (June 9).
He added that additional teams have been deployed to restore power in areas including Perambur and Villivakkam.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the Green Power 2026 conference on Tuesday, Mr. Nirmalkumar said: “We sent three additional teams with 20 employees each to Perambur and Villivakkam on Monday. We have begun night rounds to restore power supply.”
