Θεσσαλονίκη: Χειρουργός προέβη σε προληπτική μαστεκτομή χωρίς γονιδιακή ένδειξη
Σε ποινή φυλάκισης τριών ετών με τριετή αναστολή καταδικάστηκε γιατρός από το Μικτό Ορκωτό Εφετείο Θεσσαλονίκης , επειδή προχώρησε σε προληπτική μαστεκτομή σε ασθενή του χωρίς να υπάρχει γενετική προδιάθεση για καρκίνο . A surgeon in Thessaloniki has been handed a three-year suspended prison sentence for performing a preventative mastectomy on a patient without genetic predisposition to cancer. The court found him guilty of severe bodily harm with potential intent, downgrading the charge from intentional severe bodily harm. The case began in 2018 when the 60-year-old patient, who had a family history of breast cancer, underwent regular check-ups. Following the discovery of calcifications, the doctor allegedly informed her of a positive genetic test and proceeded with a double mastectomy, despite the test never having been performed.
