Authorities in Zakarpattia have detained a 28-year-old man accused of selling three SUVs that were imported into Ukraine as humanitarian aid for the armed forces. The vehicles, including a SsangYong, Hyundai Santa Fe, and Mitsubishi, were entrusted to him for safekeeping by a charitable foundation. He allegedly arranged to sell the cars for over $10,000, accepting down payments and arranging final sales in April and May. When law enforcement documented the transactions, the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended. The market value of the vehicles is estimated at over 900,000 hryvnias.
This case highlights the illicit profiteering from essential aid intended for Ukraine's defense during wartime, underscoring the importance of accountability and the protection of humanitarian resources.
