Cyprus has introduced a new program designed to facilitate the voluntary return of Syrian families to their home country. This initiative offers financial incentives of up to €2,000 per person, alongside support for a dignified departure. The plan targets Syrian families and couples without children who had applied for or received international protection before the end of 2024. Under the scheme, one family member can remain in Cyprus with a special work permit until August 2028, while the rest of the family returns.
This plan aims to manage migration by encouraging the return of individuals not eligible for asylum, while also addressing labor market needs and ensuring the dignified repatriation of Syrian nationals.
