A former Coordinator of Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche (retd.), has argued that replacing Nigeria’s service chiefs would not provide a lasting solution to the country’s persistent security challenges. Enenche made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television while reacting to the recent call for the resignation of security chiefs over the continued threat posed by terrorism, banditry and other forms of violent crime. Recall that the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, had urged President Bola Tinubu to give the security chiefs a 90-day ultimatum to eliminate terrorists or resign. The retired army general stressed that the country’s security situation requires a long-term, coordinated approach rather than leadership changes driven by public pressure. According to him, Nigerians must collectively treat insecurity as a national priority and support efforts aimed at defeating criminal elements threatening lives and property. “I don’t joke with security at all, and I encourage every other person to do the same.
