Indigenous peoples and landless peasants in Paraná, Brazil, have undertaken a significant reforestation effort, distributing approximately 30 tons of juçara palm seeds from helicopters. This initiative, part of the 4th Nature Journey event held in early June, saw around 24 million seeds dispersed across the largest Indigenous Territory in the state. The juçara palm (Euterpe edulis) is a vital species in the Atlantic Forest biome, currently facing threats of extinction and crucial for supporting local wildlife and providing economic resources through its fruit and heart of palm.

This large-scale aerial seeding operation is crucial for the conservation of the endangered juçara palm and the ecological health of the Atlantic Forest, while also supporting the livelihoods of local communities.
