The event, themed "All Waters Flow to the Sea," will feature film screenings, workshops, and discussions focused on the contributions of women to Brazilian documentary cinema. The program aims to explore themes of memory, identity, and audiovisual creation through the experiences of female filmmakers.
Highlights include panels with directors like Antônia Ágape and Karol Maia, as well as workshops on cinematography and film production. A special children's program, Cine Erê, is also planned, alongside the premiere of Karol Maia's film "Aqui não entra luz." The showcase will conclude with a screening of "Cais" and a celebratory procession.
The MIRA showcase is significant for highlighting and valuing the often-overlooked work of women in Brazilian documentary filmmaking, fostering a richer understanding of the nation's cinematic landscape.
