Bangladesh is preparing to present its largest budget to date, valued at approximately 9.38 lakh crore taka. This financial plan aims to showcase the government's economic capabilities and political commitment amidst significant economic pressures. The nation faces challenges including lagging revenue collection, a weak banking sector, low investment, and global economic uncertainties. The proposed budget targets a revenue of nearly 6.95 lakh crore taka, with the National Board of Revenue tasked with collecting 6.04 lakh crore taka, a goal that requires more than just setting targets. The budget also outlines a deficit of around 2.43 lakh crore taka, to be financed through bank loans, non-bank borrowing, and foreign aid.
