The complete 72-page verdict, including the full judgment, in the case of an eight-year-old child who was raped and brutally murdered in Pallabi, Dhaka, has been sent to the High Court. The Dhaka Metropolitan Children Violence Suppression Tribunal delivered the verdict last Sunday, concluding the trial in just four working days. The main accused, Sohail Rana, and his wife, Swapna Akhtar, were sentenced to death. Sohail Rana was also fined 500,000 taka and Swapna Akhtar 200,000 taka. The child's dismembered body was recovered from a flat in Pallabi on May 19th. The accused couple confessed to the crime in court.
