SCR which has removed all the Unmanned Level Crossing (UMLCs) gates across its entire network in 2018 itself, has also eliminated 65 manned level crossings last year, including the erstwhile six divisions across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava has informed that efforts are on to remove the remaining manned level crossings with road/over-under/bridges as well as limited height subways in the current three divisions — Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Nanded divisions on the occasion of ‘International Level Crossing Awareness Day’.
He called upon road users to be alert while driving and not endanger their life or lives of others by overlooking safety guidelines. Mass awareness campaigns, including street plays, to improve public awareness on the dangers of unsafe behaviour at level crossings were held and special checks at level crossings were conducted, said a press release on Wednesday.
