As part of World Ocean Day, the (1) P Naval Unit NCC, Puducherry, organised a clean-up drive at the Chunnambar boat house on Monday, to promote marine conservation and environmental awareness. A total of 40 Naval Wing NCC cadets, seven staff and two officers participated in the drive. The participants cleaned the beach and surrounding coastal areas, collecting nearly 100 kg of plastic waste and other non-biodegradable materials harmful to marine ecosystems. The drive aimed to sensitise the cadets and the public about the importance of keeping beaches and oceans free from pollution and to spread awareness regarding the adverse effects of marine litter on aquatic life. The event concluded with a pledge by the participants to contribute towards cleaner beaches and oceans.
