The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has issued a safety warning to football fans across the State as FIFA World Cup excitement builds ahead of the tournament kick-off on Friday (June 9, 2026).
KSEB has cautioned against installing flex boards, cut-outs, banners and flag decorations of teams and players across roads or near power lines and transformers. KSEB has described the practice dangerous.
Officials warned that iron rods or pipes used for such installations could accidentally come into contact with overhead power lines, causing severe electric shock or even death.
With the monsoon intensifying in the State, strong winds and rain may also bring down temporary structures onto power lines, leading to power failures and posing serious safety risks. KSEB has urged fans to strictly adhere to safety guidelines.
People have been advised to report any electricity hazards or decorations on power lines immediately to the nearest KSEB section office or the emergency helpline at 9496010101.
