Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has intensified patrols and surveillance along the Gomti River and other border areas in Cumilla due to concerns about "push-in" incidents. Although no such incidents have occurred in Cumilla this year, the BGB is maintaining a heightened state of alert. The Gomti River, which flows from India into Bangladesh, is a particular focus because it lacks the barbed-wire fencing present in most other parts of the border, making it easier to cross, especially with low water levels. BGB members are actively monitoring the riverbanks, surrounding vegetation, and potential crossing points, verifying the identities of any unfamiliar individuals.

The increased vigilance is crucial for maintaining border security and preventing illegal crossings or push-ins, which have been reported in other parts of the country.
