Bangladesh's Home Minister, Asaduzzaman Khan, addressed concerns in parliament regarding alleged irregularities at Islami Bank. He stated that the "pain of a bank once occupied being occupied again" is understood. The minister highlighted specific instances of alleged financial misconduct occurring after August 5, 2024, including the distribution of Tk 22,000 crore through the RDS project, with Tk 11,000 crore disbursed post-election. He also mentioned a Tk 700 crore loan to Nabil Group against LCs, which was not repaid, and a Tk 40 crore loan given to a group before elections without head office approval. Furthermore, he noted the dismissal of 9,000 employees and the hiring of 6,000 politically aligned individuals, alongside 13,000 irregular promotions.

These revelations raise significant questions about financial governance and potential political interference within a major Islamic bank, impacting public trust and economic stability.
