A severe hailstorm in Muembe district, Niassa province, has impacted over 3,000 people, damaging 892 homes and injuring nine individuals. The extreme weather event also caused significant damage to public and private infrastructure, notably destroying the roof of the Chiuajuta health unit's maternity ward, temporarily disrupting maternal and child health services. Provincial Governor Elina Judite Massengele visited the affected area to assess the damage and offer support. Emergency assistance is being mobilized for affected families, along with resources to urgently repair the damaged maternity facility.
