This decision was made following guidance from the Ministry of Health and Anvisa, prompted by two suspected fatalities and reports of severe adverse reactions. Nationwide, out of 500,000 doses administered, 42 cases of severe reactions with symptoms similar to severe dengue were recorded. While Tocantins has administered over 12,000 doses with some mild, expected side effects, the suspension aims to investigate potential links between the vaccine and these adverse events. Other dengue vaccines, like Qdenga, remain available.
