BYD has officially launched its first plug-in hybrid flex-fuel SUV in Brazil, the Atto 2 DM-i Flex, with prices starting at R$ 149,990. This new model, to be manufactured in Camaçari, Bahia, features a 1.5-liter combustion engine primarily acting as a generator, complemented by an electric motor for propulsion. It will be available in two battery configurations: a 7.8 kWh version offering 177 combined horsepower and a 18.3 kWh version with over 197 horsepower.
This launch marks BYD's expansion into the flex-fuel hybrid segment in Brazil, offering consumers a new electrified option with potentially lower running costs and extended range.
