KUALA LUMPUR: Tawaran kompaun kepada tertuduh yang berdepan pendakwaan kes rasuah dibuat mengikut Seksyen 92(1) Akta Pencegahan Pengubahan Wang Haram, Pencegahan Pembiayaan Keganasan dan Hasil daripada Aktiviti Haram 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001). An individual accused of corruption was discharged and acquitted after paying a compound offer made under Section 92(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001). The Attorney General clarified that such compound offers are made after a full review of the case and representations from the accused's legal team. Once the compound is paid, Section 92(4) of the AMLATFPUAA 2001 prohibits further prosecution for the same offense. This process allows for the resolution of cases without lengthy court proceedings, with compound amounts not exceeding 50% of the maximum fine.
