The High Court is set to deliver a verdict today on a lawsuit filed by Lebanese jewelry firm Global Royalty Trading SAL Ltd. The company is seeking US$14.57 million (RM68.3 million) from Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor for the alleged loss of over 40 high-value jewelry pieces. Rosmah claims the jewelry disappeared during police raids conducted after the 2018 general election, in connection with the 1MDB scandal investigations. The court will also decide if the Inspector-General of Police and the government, named as third parties by Rosmah, bear any liability in the case.
The ruling could set a precedent for the accountability of individuals and authorities in cases involving the seizure and potential loss of valuable assets during investigations.
