বিমূর্ততা নাকি দেখার পার্থক্য
আনন্দ ও সুখের মধ্যে যেমন সূক্ষ্ম পার্থক্য আছে, তেমনি পার্থক্য রয়েছে মূর্ত ও বিমূর্ত চিত্রকলার মধ্যেও। মূর্ত চিত্র আমাদের চেনা জগতের রূপ, আকৃতি ও অনুভূতিকে দৃশ্যমান করে তোলে; দর্শক সেই পরিচিত জগতের ভেতর দিয়েই নতুন করে ভ্রমণ করেন। কিন্তু বিমূর্ত শিল্পের পরিসর ভিন্ন। সেখানে দৃশ্যমান বাস্তবতার প্রত্যক্ষ উপস্থিতি থাকে না; থাকে তার নির্যাস, স্মৃতি কিংবা অনুভূতির রূপান্তরিত ভাষা। এক অর্থে বিমূর্ত শিল্প হলো দৃষ্টির সীমানা অতিক্রম করে মনের জগতের রূপ নির্মাণ। তবে সেই নির্মাণও শেষ পর্
