Montes Claros has achieved a new record in job generation during the first quarter of 2026, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed (Caged). The city saw 14,742 new hires against 13,029 dismissals, resulting in a positive balance of 1,713 jobs. This brings the total number of formally employed individuals in the municipality to 99,891, also a record high since the "Novo Caged" system was implemented in 2020.
Compared to previous years, the first three months of 2026 show a significant increase in both hiring numbers and the net job balance. The services sector leads employment, accounting for over half of the formal jobs, followed by commerce.
This record job creation indicates a robust local economy and suggests positive growth prospects for Montes Claros.
