Electricity connection to rural villages in Wabag District
The Wabag District Development Authority (WDDA), in partnership with the Japanese International Co-operation Agency (JICA) has successfully implemented a rural electrification project in the Laiap local level government area that will power up a dozen villages stretching into the electoral boundaries of the Wapenamanda District. A collaborative rural electrification initiative by the Wabag District Development Authority and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has brought power to several villages in the Laiap local level government area. The project extends electricity access to communities within Wabag District and even into parts of the Wapenamanda District. Household connections have begun in specific wards, with plans to expand service along the Birip-Aiyel Valley road.
This project significantly improves living standards and opens up economic opportunities for previously unpowered rural communities.
