In a major step towards providing high-speed broadband connectivity to villages across Uttar Pradesh, accelerating digital inclusion, and creating self-employment opportunities for youth, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on June 09, 2026 launched ‘Project Ganga’. The project will ensure last-mile digital connectivity in rural areas while expanding opportunities in digital education, telemedicine, e-governance, skill development, and technology-based employment.

Under Project Ganga, a comprehensive network of Digital Service Providers (DSPs) will be developed across the state. Through this initiative, the government aims to provide high-speed internet connectivity to approximately 20 lakh families, prepare 8 to 10,000 Digital Service Providers, and generate more than one lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities. The project is being launched in 21 districts during its first phase.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated, “Broadband connectivity has become a basic necessity in today’s era. The faster the internet speed, the faster the pace of development. Project Ganga is an important initiative towards realizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Digital India.”

The Chief Minister said, just as the flow of Maa Ganga from Gangotri to Gangasagar has been a source of development, prosperity, and life for the regions along its path, Project Ganga will similarly become a strong foundation for Uttar Pradesh’s digital prosperity. This initiative will create new possibilities for social and economic transformation by bringing digital opportunities to villages.

He informed, “Over the past 9 years, numerous technology-based initiatives such as e-Office, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), BC Sakhi, and Gram Sachivalaya have reduced the distance between governance and citizens. These efforts have accelerated digital empowerment and made services more accessible to the common people. Project Ganga represents the next important phase of this journey.”
