Biologists from the Piran Marine Biology Station have identified an invasive predator that is causing significant damage to shellfish populations. This harmful newcomer poses a serious threat to local marine ecosystems and the shellfish industry. In response to this challenge, the state has allocated two new marine fields specifically for shellfish cultivation.
This discovery highlights the need for proactive measures to protect native species and support sustainable aquaculture in the face of invasive threats.
