Harga besi, pasir, simen catat kenaikan bulan lalu
KUALA LUMPUR: Indeks harga seunit besi menunjukkan peningkatan pada Mei 2026, dengan perubahan bulanan antara 0.1 peratus hingga 1.3 peratus semua kawasan Semenanjung Malaysia, Sabah dan Sarawak. Ketua Perangkawan Malaysia, Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin, berkata peningkatan tertinggi bagi bahan ini telah direkodkan di Pahang (1.3 peratus), diikuti dengan Sibu dan Miri (masing-masing 0.8 peratus). Beliau memaklumkan bahawa indeks harga seunit pasir juga mencatatkan peningkat
Construction material prices saw a general increase in May 2026 across Malaysia. The price index for steel units rose between 0.1% and 1.3% nationwide, with Pahang experiencing the highest monthly jump. Sand prices also climbed significantly, ranging from 0.4% to 9.7%, with Sandakan recording the largest increase. Aggregate prices saw a monthly rise of 0.3% to 4.7%, while cement prices experienced a smaller uptick of 0.2% to 2.1%.
Year-on-year comparisons from May 2025 to May 2026 also indicated price hikes for these essential building components. Steel prices increased by 1.1% to 10%, sand by 1.0% to 22.9%, and cement by 1.0% to 7.5%. The average price for steel bars saw a marginal increase of 0.4% to RM3,517.50 per ton.
These price fluctuations in key construction materials can impact building project costs and potentially influence the real estate market.
