Local authorities in Biratnagar have penalized four hotels and cafes operating within the Biratnagar Airport for overcharging customers. During an inspection led by the Morang District Administration Office, it was discovered that these establishments were charging exorbitant prices for goods, such as selling chocolates worth 100 rupees for 200 rupees. As a result, each of the four businesses was fined 300,000 rupees for defrauding consumers.
