Sound artist Jeff Rice used a hydrophone placed near the root system to record vibrations, which he believes are generated by the rustling of its millions of leaves. These faint sounds, amplified during a thunderstorm, travel through the tree's structure and into the ground, offering a unique auditory perspective on this ancient, massive entity. The recordings also demonstrated sound transmission across significant distances through the organism, suggesting a deep interconnectedness.
