Race-by-race preview and tips for Gosford on Thursday
All the information you need to pick a winner on Thursday.
2. Encryptix is an emerging sprinter trained on the course, and has been given seven weeks via a winning trial that was genuinely run after missing narrowly here on debut. Looks fit and ready. 4. Orange Tsunami is a big market watch first-up as a gelding for the Richard and Will Freedman stable with key gear changes, and off two trials where he was never asked to do much. Scratched from a later race to run in this. 9. Hellflight is a two-year-old by Hellbent and stablemate of the former. Starts behind two improving trials, and the betting will be a vital indicator. 6. Tellurium is by Extreme Choice, and another market watch on debut for the Richard Litt stable behind two trials. Gap to the rest.
2. Jonson is a progressive metropolitan-based four-year-old bred to get further, and ideally placed getting to this trip second-up off a six week let-up, and quick-back-up. Kept working home to only miss by a neck at Hawkesbury, and can settle right behind the speed from a lower draw. 3. Kharif is also on the rise, charging home from well back to miss narrowly in the country on heavy ground. Drawn to sit a bit closer here, and afforded good weight relief back at the provincials. 1. Flying Party is hard fit having beaten all but the winner in four of his last five runs, the latest only nine days ago when hitting the line at Kembla. Not overly suited back on a smaller and tighter track, and threatens to jump under the odds. 4. Ruskana is a third-up improver.
8. Pazyryk is a talented Randwick filly primed to turn things around returning for a second prep, with winkers coming off. Was never far away, but out of the money in three provincial runs earlier in the year. Showed she’s ready to go up a notch or two claiming the second of two trials in smart fashion. Keep safe 5. Rainbow Charlie, a two-year-old colt by Headwater who chased OK on debut in heavy ground at Newcastle when well in the market. 1. Magic Blaze is by a Doncaster winner, and market watch on debut behind two progressive trials. 7. Iambubb a lightly raced two-year-old second-up, and at bigger odds both 10. Lord Elrond with blinkers going on, and 11. Hatsumomo, a filly by Street Boss on debut for the Joe Pride yard behind two trials, can all add value into trifecta and first fours.
6. Opine is a three-year-old by So You Think on debut for the Pride stable, and significantly was scratched from the opener at the Kensington meeting on Wednesday to be saved for this. Starts behind two progressive trials, the latest tracking wide on the synthetic before trucking home with plenty in hand. Naturally bred to
