হতে হতেও সিটি করপোরেশন হয়নি ফরিদপুর, এখন ভোগান্তি নাগরিকদের
ফরিদপুর পৌরসভার আয়তন ছিল ১৭ দশমিক ৩৮ বর্গকিলোমিটার। সিটি করপোরেশনে উন্নীত করতে ২০১৮ সালে আয়তন বাড়িয়ে ৬৬ দশমিক ৫৪ বর্গকিলোমিটার করা হয়। এতে পৌরসভার জনসংখ্যা ১ লাখ ৪৮ হাজার থেকে ৫ লাখ ৫৭ হাজারে পৌঁছায়। কিন্তু সাত বছরেও সিটি করপোরেশন না হওয়ায় স্থানীয় সরকার মন্ত্রণালয়ের বার্ষিক বরাদ্দ আগের মতোই আছে। শহরের বাসিন্দারা বলছেন, আয়তন, জনবল বাড়ানোসহ সব শর্ত পূরণের পরও সাত বছর ধরে স্থগিত হয়ে আছে ফরিদপুর সিটি করপোরেশন বাস্তবায়নের কার্যক্রম। ওই সব শর্ত পূরণ করায় আয়তন ও জনসংখ্যা আগের তুলনায়

Despite meeting all criteria, including a quadrupled area and population increase, the municipality's annual allocation remains unchanged, hindering development. Essential services like waste management, road maintenance, and water supply are suffering due to insufficient funds, leading to issues like waterlogging and unlit streets. The lack of proper sanitation facilities further exacerbates the problems for the growing population.
The prolonged delay in upgrading Faridpur to a city corporation is preventing the allocation of necessary funds for development, directly impacting the quality of life and basic services for its citizens.
