Ze forceerden de deur met een breekijzer en gingen aan de haal met een Braziliaans visfossiel van 1 meter lang. De antiquair was op dat moment op een markt in Tongeren in Limburg. Toen hij een oproep kreeg van de alarmcentrale, stuurde hij zijn schoonbroer ter plaatse. Maar de dieven waren al gevlucht met de fossiele vis.
