Tan Sri Azam Baki, the former Chief Commissioner of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), expressed relief that a criminal intimidation case involving him has been classified as "no further action" (NFA). He stated that this outcome validates his position, proving the allegations made by businessman Tei Jiann Cheing, also known as Albert Tei, were unfounded and lacked strong factual basis.
Azam Baki noted that he endured negative perceptions due to the accusations while leading the MACC. He believes the allegations were made with malicious intent by certain parties aiming to tarnish his reputation and that of the enforcement agency. He urged all enforcement officers to remain steadfast in their duties with integrity, unaffected by pressure or negative campaigns, and to act courageously based on facts and evidence.
The resolution of the case is significant as it impacts the credibility of a former top anti-corruption official and reinforces the importance of integrity in law enforcement.
