‘আর্জেন্টিনা–ব্রাজিল যত দিন, পতাকার ব্যবসা তত দিন’

Students from various districts have come to Dhaka to sell national flags, hoping to earn extra income during the World Cup. Tamim Badshah, an eleventh-grader from Habiganj, is one of them, selling flags of Argentina, Brazil, Germany, and others with his brother. They are staying with their uncle and aim to earn enough to support their family. Another vendor, Liton Mia from Gopalganj, has also come to the capital with several acquaintances to sell flags, a venture they undertake during major football tournaments and the month of December. They typically sell flags for about two weeks before the tournament begins and then return to their hometowns to farm or sell cosmetics.

The sale of national flags highlights the economic opportunities and seasonal livelihoods that major sporting events like the World Cup can create for individuals.
