The funeral of a 23-year-old Telangana man who died last month after saving three friends who were drowning in a river in the U.S., was conducted at his native village in Rangareddy district of Telangana on Tuesday (June 9, 2026).

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy praised the deceased Anuroop Reddy for his extraordinary and heroic act in saving the lives of his friends.

In a post on 'X', the Chief Minister condoled the death of the man and said the government would stand by the bereaved family. A "Letter of Commendation" sent by the Chief Minister was handed over to the man's family members at Kavadipalli village in Rangareddy district by Congress Lok Sabha member Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy.

Congress sources said Anuroop Reddy, who completed his Masters in the U.S., died on May 29 at Toro Bayou Park in Louisiana after saving his friends who were drowning in Sabine river.
