CALGARY, Canada: TANZANIA has showcased its wide-ranging energy investment opportunities to global investors at the ongoing World Geothermal Congress (WGC 2026), positioning itself as Africa’s emerging energy investment hub. Speaking at the congress, Tanzania’s Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Energy responsible for Electricity and Renewable Energy, Felchesmi Mramba, said the country offers attractive investment opportunities in geothermal energy, natural gas, solar power, energy storage systems, and electricity infrastructure development. He noted that Tanzania’s membership in the East African Power Pool (EAPP) and the Southern African Power Pool (SAPP) strengthens its position as a strategic gateway for regional electricity trade, allowing investors to access markets beyond national borders. Mr Mramba said the government has continued to improve the investment climate while expanding energy infrastructure to meet rising electricity demand driven by industrialisation, mining activities, and overall economic growth. He further highlighted Tanzania’s significant geothermal potential, estimated at more than 5,000 megawatts, due to its location along the East African Rift System.
