Scholieren bouwen mini-MRI-scanner op kindermaat voor UZ Gent: "Het gaat écht een verschil maken"
Het UZ Gent heeft er een mini-MRI-scanner bij. Die werd gemaakt door leerlingen van campus Lievegem en is bedoeld om een ziekenhuisbezoek voor kinderen minder eng te maken. Jonge patiënten kunnen hun knuffel door de MRI-scanner laten gaan om te wennen aan de geluiden en het smalle bed waarop je als patiënt ligt.
UZ Gent has acquired a new mini-MRI scanner, specifically designed for children. This innovative device was constructed by students from campus Lievegem with the primary goal of reducing anxiety for young patients during hospital visits. The scanner allows children to familiarize themselves with the sounds and the confined space of an MRI machine by sending their stuffed animals through it first. This gentle introduction aims to make the experience less intimidating for them.
This initiative aims to improve the hospital experience for pediatric patients by reducing fear and anxiety associated with medical procedures.
