Tre ud af de fire regeringspartier ville før valget lempe statsborgerskabsregel for unge – men bøjede sig for S på Marienborg

Prior to the last election, three of the four governing parties expressed a desire to ease the citizenship rules for young people. The Social Liberals, in particular, strongly criticized the existing regulations, drawing comparisons to the treatment of Palestinians in Lebanon. Both the Socialist People's Party and The Moderates also indicated support for changes to the law. However, during negotiations at Marienborg, all three parties ultimately conceded to the Social Democrats' stricter stance on the matter.

This reveals a shift in political consensus regarding citizenship requirements for young individuals, potentially impacting future integration policies.
