Bangladesh has achieved a significant milestone as the per capita income has surpassed $3,000, reaching $3,020. Concurrently, the nation's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), a measure of the overall economy, has exceeded $500 billion, standing at $501 billion for the fiscal year 2025-26. These figures represent record highs for both indicators. The per capita income saw an increase of $251 from the previous fiscal year, while the economy expanded by $45 billion. The Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) released these preliminary estimates, indicating a GDP growth of 4.14% for the current fiscal year. This economic expansion positions the country halfway towards its ambitious goal of a trillion-dollar economy by 2034.
