Haapsalu Bay's mussel and seaweed farms plan postponed

Plans to establish mussel and seaweed farms in Haapsalu Bay have been postponed by approximately one year. The Estonian Marine Institute encountered issues with procurement processes, which prevented the project from moving forward as scheduled for this summer. Additionally, the equipment initially considered was found to be unsuitable for the specific shallow conditions of Haapsalu Bay.

This delay means the potential ecological and economic benefits of the mussel and seaweed farms, such as water quality improvement and sustainable aquaculture, will not be realized in the bay for another year.
