Telecom launches business overhaul

Telecom Namibia has appointed Synercap Capital to lead its strategic transformation and restructuring programme. The programme aims to reposition Telecom in a changing digital economy. The state-owned telecommunications company made the appointment announcement yesterday. The programme will include a full assessment of the company’s organisational structure, infrastructure assets, operations and financial position. Outgoing Telecom Namibia chief executive Stanley Shanapinda yesterday said the programme is intended to build a stronger Telecom Namibia that can better serve customers, support national development and compete in the digital economy. The review will also explore how telecommunications operators in other countries have transformed their businesses and identify lessons that Namibia could apply. As part of the process, Synercap will consult governments, regulators, employees, customers, investors and other industry stakeholders. Telecom Namibia said one of the main outcomes will be the development of a transformation and repositioning strategy. The strategy will focus on improving customer experience, introducing new products and services, strengthening the brand, modernising sales and distribution channels, and identifying new revenue opportunities.
