Amid accusations of restrictions imposed for mediapersons at the Secretariat, Chief Minister V.D.Satheesan said on Wednesday that the State government will need to take a relook at a 2018 circular during the tenure of the previous government which had led to the restrictions. “It has only been a few days since we took charge, during which we had to take up several matters including the White Paper and the State Budget on priority. We will examine this order,” he said. On the closure of the North Gate of the Secretariat, he said that it is natural for the gate to be closed when protest marches happen. Mr.Satheesan said that the State government has no powers to tell the Enforcement Directorate how it should proceed with an investigation. “Though the CMRL had approached the High Court to stop the investigation, the appeal was rejected. Now the CPI(M) says that it will let the law take its course. This is what I said initially about the investigation,” he said.
