A 55-year-old woman was found dead with a gunshot wound at her residence at Halenahalli in Chikkamagaluru town on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Suma, wife of Rajendra, a planter. Her son was at home when the incident occurred. He heard the gunshot sound and found her body with a gunshot wound. A licenced revolver was found at the spot. She is survived by her husband and two sons.
The preliminary inquiry by the police suggested that she had been under medication for the last two years. The police recovered a note from the scene of the crime.
Chikkamagaluru SP Jitendra Kumar Dayama told The Hindu that the police registered a case based on the statement of her younger son. Further investigation into the case was on, he added. Basavanahalli Police registered the case.
