The Medical and Health Services Recruitment Board (MHSRB), Hyderabad, on Wednesday (June 10) released selection notifications for Assistant Professors in multiple specialties under the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), with nearly half the notified posts remaining vacant due to the non-availability of qualified candidates in several reserved categories.

Out of 433 posts for which selection lists were announced, 212 Assistant Professor posts have been filled, while 221 posts remain vacant. Many of the vacancies persisted because there were no qualified applicants available under several reserved categories.

The recruitment notification was originally issued in June 2025 for filling 607 Assistant Professor posts across 34 specialties under DME. Selection notifications for four specialties, namely Anaesthesia, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics, were released on April 4. For the remaining 30 specialties, provisional merit lists were published on May 19 and candidates were shortlisted in the ratio of 1:3 for certificate verification.

Verification of original certificates was conducted between May 22 and May 25 at the Institute of Health and Family Welfare in Hyderabad.
