Apart from the three pilgrims who were killed on the spot in a collision between a bus and truck on NH-2 near Aurangabad in Bihar on Monday, another critically injured passenger died on the early hours of Wednesday. The bodies of the three deceased reached their home towns in SPSR Nellore district on Tuesday night and were handed over to their families. The remaining injured victims have been transferred via a bus from Aurangabad.”

“The State government has taken special measures to transport the mortal remains of the three pilgrims by air from Aurangabad to Patna, and from there to Hyderabad via Indigo flight 6E-619 and subsequently to Chennai via Indigo flight 6E-6174,” said Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy. He informed that the bodies arrived at the Chennai airport on Tuesday night by 10.05 p.m. and were transported to Nellore by bus.

Meanwhile, a 60-seater sleeper bus carrying 29 travellers from Bihar has now reached Bhubaneswar and is continuing its journey towards Nellore. The Minister stated that the district administration is ready to provide necessary assistance and support to the families of the deceased.

He said that the government is also continuously monitoring the provision of medical care to the injured pilgrims and transport arrangements to bring them back to their native places. He said that the officials at A.P. Bhavan, New Delhi, have been coordinating with the Bihar government, local district administration, medical authorities, and the families of the victims.

However, one critically injured person, Lakshmamma (65), from Sangam in Nellore district died at the Patna Medical College Hospital at 2 a.m. on Wednesday. Post-mortem and embalming procedures for the body are under way. “Once these formalities are completed, the body and the accompanying attendants will depart for Nellore in an ambulance arranged by the district administration,” the A.P. Bhavan staff said in a statement.
