A 38-year-old agricultural labourer was found dead in a Tasmac outlet at Neepathurai village near Chengam town in Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as K. Suresh, a native of Kattamaduvu village near Chengam town. He was living with his family, including four children in the village for many years. Initial inquiry revealed that Suresh went to the outlet and was consuming liquor when he reportedly got into an argument with another consumer. Both of them exchanged blows. In the impact, Suresh collapsed and died on the spot.

On being alerted by the Tasmac outlet staff, the Mel Chengam police inspected the spot. The body was shifted to Government Medical College Hospital in Tiruvannamalai town for a post-mortem. A case has been registered. Special teams have been formed to nab the suspect. Police are also analysing CCTV footage in the outlet and also on the route. A probe is under way.
