Superintendent of Police (SP) S. Satish Kumar on Wednesday appealed to the public to install CCTV cameras at their residences to strengthen safety and assist the police in swiftly detecting crimes.

The SP highlighted the importance of surveillance technology in modern crime prevention after inaugurating a CCTV control room at N.P. Kunta police station of Kadiri division in Sri Sathya Sai district. Kadiri MLA Kandikunta Venkata Prasad was also present.

The SP said that the facility, set up with the support of Andhra Pradesh Solar Power Corporation Private Limited at a cost of ₹7 lakh, is connected to 22 surveillance cameras installed at key junctions and public locations in N.P. Kunta mandal.

Mr. Satish Kumar said CCTV cameras were indispensable to effective policing as crime patterns evolved differently and population and vehicle density continued to rise. “Surveillance systems not only deter criminal activity but also provide crucial evidence for investigators in solving cases quickly,” the SP said.

Reiterating efforts to strengthen policing in rural areas, the SP maintained that security infrastructure was being expanded through CSR-supported initiatives. “Kadiri subdivision already operates an integrated monitoring system linking nearly 180 cameras to a central command centre,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.

Meanwhile, MLA Venkata Prasad welcomed the initiative, adding that the “dynamic and advanced surveillance infrastructure” would significantly enhance public security across the district.
